Home button delay

After iOS10 install, I'm experiencing an approximate 3 second delay for screen to appear after pressing the home button. As well as a 3 second delay to unlock after resting finger for Touch ID.

Hi Aleeat,

Thanks for upgrading your iPhone 6 to iOS 10! I understand that after installing, your Home button seems to be slow to respond upon pressing it. You can try to restart your device if you haven't already.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You may also try to manage the space currently on the device and force close all of your currently running apps. Low storage space as well as background processes could cause the slight delay in response time on your iPhone.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Manage your photo and video storage

These steps should resolve the delayed issue you are experiencing with your Home button. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to post your question.

Have a great day.

You're welcome. If the previous steps did not resolve the issue, you can try backing up your iPhone and restore it to factory settings using iTunes on your computer. If you setup the device as new, without restoring any data from your backup, you can test the Home button's functionality.

If the issue exists on the device with no data, your Home button may be the issue. You should contact Apple support to explore your repair or replacement options. However, if the Home button works as expected, this indicates that your data maybe causing the issue in which it would be best to re download your apps from the App store then use your Apple ID to sync your iCloud data back to your device instead of restoring from the backup.

I believe majority of users have experienced a their iPhone 6's to be slower after the iOS 10 update. Home button is one of them I also have a problem with. Double clicking to close running apps also takes a long time. Waiting for password screen to appear. Using apps like maps or google maps take more to download which is annoying.

I don't think apple understands, that no one had $700 to spear even every 2 years to buy a new phone. A constant race to nothingness.

I have always been using apple products, but I am considering to change, because I can't rely on the phone anymore when I need it.

The other day I wanted to take a quick photo at an accident seen and camera app froze. I ask, what is the point???

I also have this issue. iPhone 5S with 4GB free space.

Immediately after upgrading to iOS 10 (against my instinct, but I got sick of the nags), the phone now takes anything up to 15 seconds to wake from sleep.

This is not a hardware issue with the button. Once awake, the home button responds as normal.

I restored the phone and, with no apps, the problem was gone. However, after reinstalling my apps, the problem has come back. I do not have sufficient access to troubleshoot the issue further and I am definitely not going to uninstall 100 apps one-by-one to find out which one is the problem.

As far as I'm concerned, this is an iOS 10 issue. I had no problems until I upgraded.
